Villa Evian @LASSA Architects
Evian, France
Overlooking Lake Geneva, this hilltop house features a green roof shell that acts as an extension of the terrain. It is divided into two independent living areas. These areas are connected internally by a viewing gallery for a collection of artwork, and externally by a shared courtyard. This courtyard is defined by the pathways of the green roof, and its orientation is informed by its environment. It is protected by the shell from ‘La Bise’ - a dry, cold wind characteristic of the local climate. In addition, it is oriented towards the south, providing natural daylight throughout the year. The organization of circulation establishes a continuous promenade that links indoor and outdoor activities - paths converge on the green roof, which provides a serene view of the lake.
